The status and beliefs of women in marriage are a barometer of Japanese society. Women have gone through ancient equality in marriage, being in a dominant position in the Middle Ages, and pursuing mutual benefit and coexistence in modern times, reflecting the contradictions intertwined between tradition and modernity, conservatism and radicalism of the times. This article focuses on the traditional marriage concepts of Japan before and during the war, as well as the decline and development period after the war. It mainly focuses on the impact of the system, economy, and ideology after the defeat, pays attention to the changes in women's marriage concepts, analyzes the reasons, and explores the power of women under gender equality.
